What does NYCAAPSE offer its membership?

• Professional Development meetings throughout the school year through General Meetings, which include lunch, are usually held from noon to 3:00 p.m. in October, November, December, March and often in April. Topics are timely, germane and determined through input based on the membership’s expressed needs and interests.  Some of the topics have been the following is a list of some of our meetings topics: using non-fiction, Danielson’s Framework for teacteaching,  infusing the Common Core Learning Standards into the curriculum, teacher effectiveness and curriculum development, among others.
• A website (www.nycaapse.net) containing important organization information, meeting schedules, minutes from general meetings, valuable resource material related to English department supervision, organization, administration, curriculum development and much more.
• nycaapse@googlegroups.com serves as a communication blog between members.
• Networking opportunities with fellow administrators, departmental coordinators and other support staff.
  
• Networking opportunities with universities:  Ongoing relationships with key personnel at most colleges and universities in the metropolitan area.
• Ongoing relationships with key personnel of museums, corporations and other supportive educational groups outside the NYC system (e.g. the NYC Writing Project.)
• Shared up-to-date information gained from ongoing dialogue with CSA and leaders of other subject area high school organizations--counterparts of NYCAAPSE.
• Graduation Award Certificates
